
ADULT BALLET-
BEGINNER – open to Teens and Adults
No experience required. This class is designed for older beginners,
or mature body types that want to focus on body conditioning and strengthening.
Class will start with a "Ballet Barre" for full body warm-ups.
Developing skills at the barre, enables dancers to learn correct body
placement demanded for Adagio and Allegro, slow and quick movement.
The 2nd part of class will be center floor combinations and progressions
across the floor. 3rd part is devoted to toning, stretching, and cool
down.
POINTE -INTERMEDIATE
& ADVANCED
Classes are devoted to the technique “sur les pointes”.
At age eleven or twelve, with approximately three years of ballet
training, the ballet dancer may be considered for pointe shoes if
the dancer has achieved a certain level of technical proficiency and
physical maturity. This is a very individual level change in which
the teacher considers the dancers growth, strength and technique.
Pointe class may only be taken by recommendation of the instructor
and approval of the Ballet Director.
ADULT JAZZ - BEGINNER
No experience required. This class is a great way to get in shape
or to just have fun! Every class begins with a full body stretch and
warm-up followed by progressions and combinations, and ending with
conditioning work & cool down stretch. Steps are taught with a
variety of music styles and tempos guaranteed to please. Steps learned
will be put together in combinations to create fun dance pieces.
ADULT TAP - BEGINNER
No experience required. This class provides exercise and enjoyment,
while keeping the mind alert and the body moving. Tap is a wonderful
way to stay active and energetic. We explore different music styles
and work on full body movements. So work your mind & body as you
learn to feel the beat in your feet.
HIP-HOP –
BEGINNER THRU ADVANCED
No prior dance experience needed to join our HIP HOP classes. Hip
Hop, sometimes referred to as “street dancing”, is a fast-paced
style of dance based on jazz movements and performed to popular music.
Students learn rhythm, coordination, isolations, and basic dance steps
and put it all into routines they can dance to at parties & weddings.
BALLET
- INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED
The students progress through the classical ballet syllabus and are promoted
as they master each level’s vocabulary. Class work is given at an
age appropriate level with emphasis on proper technique and body placement.
Classes are taught in a positive and encouraging manner. As the students
advance in level the number of classes per week will increase to assure
proper muscular strength to achieve positive results. Students are placed
according to demonstrated ability at director’s discretion.
CONTEMPORARY– BEGINNER THRU ADVANCED
Students combine the art of both ballet and jazz into a very expressive
form. Classes allow individual style and interpretation while at the same
time developing strong technique. Contemporary class emphasizes musicality
and interpretation of musical lyrics. Class will begin with a warm-up of
modern-influenced, ballet based exercises and stretches. The warm up focuses
on the body as a whole and in motion, with emphasis on building strong technique
as a base to support the freedom of this contemporary style of dance.
ADULT
JAZZ - INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED
This class is a great way to get in shape, to stay in shape, or to just
have fun! Our Jazz technique combines the strength and contemporary moves
of hip-hop and the flexibility, style & control of jazz. Each class
includes proper technique in stretches, warm-ups, isolations, center work,
turns, jumps, etc. Emphasis is also placed on developing musicality, discipline
and learning quality of movement. Steps learned will be put together in
combinations to create fun dance pieces.
ADULT TAP - INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED
An adult class that’s challenging and fun. Whether you’re looking
to re-ignite your dance passion, or move up to the next level, this is the
class for you. Laugh a lot, learn a lot and sweat a lot. Forget your troubles,
c’mon get ‘tappy’!
HAWAIIAN and POLYNESIAN CLASS
No prior dance experience needed. Classes include all the different styles
of Hawaiian dancing such as chants, implements, traditional and modern hulas.
Proper technique is emphasized starting from the basic steps to the advanced
routines. It’s a great work-out.
